The Guardian Institute

The Guardian Institute is a cornerstone of GMBM’s educational strategy, providing quality learning opportunities across various levels:

Schools

Established in February 2023, the Guardian Institute aims “to produce confident and contributing Muslim individuals who live by the Quran and authentic Sunnah.” The school implements an Islamic Based Learning (IBL) curriculum, with a strategic focus on:

  • An education model rooted in an Islamic worldview

  • Integrated curriculum provision

  • Holistic development of learners in line with Islamic ideals

Home Schools

The Guardian Institute’s curriculum has been adopted by multiple home schools both across South Africa and internationally — including in Brazil and Venezuela.

Online Schooling

In partnership with Habtech Education, The Guardian Institute is planning to launch a fully online school for the 2026/2027 academic year. This program will:

  • Be based on The Guardian Institute’s Islamised CAPS curriculum

  • Provide learners with physical copies of the syllabus

  • Ensure official registration with the Department of Basic Education (DBE)

  • Conduct assessments via the Invigilator App

  • Issue termly reports and transfer cards to simplify administration

This collaboration will offer a modern, structured, and Islamic-centered digital education solution.

Curriculum Development

A full Grade R–12 curriculum has been developed and distributed to approximately 350 schools across South Africa, ensuring high standards and consistency in educational methodology.

Baked Academy

GMBM recognizes the growing importance of vocational training and entrepreneurship. The Baked Academy is a specialized baking school with SETA accreditation, offering courses that combine theoretical knowledge with practical baking skills.

This initiative is designed to:

  • Provide certified training that aligns with current industry standards

  • Foster entrepreneurship by equipping students to start their own baking businesses

  • Support employment in the culinary sector through hands-on learning and apprenticeship opportunities

QCTO Skills & Occupational Qualifications

GMBM is committed to workforce development through accredited skills programs recognized by the Quality Council for Trades & Occupations (QCTO), SETA, and SAQA.

These programs aim to:

  • Develop nationally recognized skills training for a wide range of industries

  • Enhance employability through practical, job-focused learning

  • Offer flexible full-time and part-time qualifications for students and professionals seeking to upskill

Technologies & Robotics

GMBM is advancing education in technology and robotics by equipping students with essential coding and engineering skills. The initiative also supports research and delivers accessible robotics programs to schools, fostering innovation from an early age.

Darul Uloom

GMBM has successfully implemented Darul Arqam Boksburg, established in 2025 as a dedicated Darul Uloomoffering a nurturing, full-time residential environment for boys.

The institute provides a comprehensive Hifdh program alongside Aalim courses starting from Year 1. Led by qualified Ulema, Darul Arqam is committed to delivering high-quality Islamic education, with a focus on:

  • Academic excellence

  • Spiritual and personal growth

  • Holistic development

With a structured curriculum grounded in Islamic teachings, the institution aims to cultivate knowledgeable and principled individuals who live with purpose and integrity.

Establishment of Schools & Madrasahs

Baitul Maal is committed to establishing a network of educational institutions, from schools to madrasas, that follow an Islamised curriculum. These institutions will provide high-quality education infused with Islamic ethics, nurturing the next generation of scholars, leaders, and community members to carry forward the message of Islam.

Teacher Traning Development

To ensure the successful implementation of the Islamized curriculum, Baitul Maal will invest in comprehensive training and development programs for teachers. These programs will equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and pedagogical approaches needed to effectively deliver Islamic-based education, fostering a nurturing and enriching learning environment for students.
